Pirelli Secure Use of 2010 Renault R30

The Renault R30 in action during the 2010 season
Just days after my interview with Pirelli Motor Sport Director, Paul Hembery, it has been announced that Pirelli have secured the use of a Renault R30 for development and testing.

Pirelli's new car will be adapted to closely match the latest in aero and technical specifications. For the past two seasons, since entering the sport, Pirelli have been using the Toyota TF109. Over the past couple of seasons this car has become dated as the sport moves on. Paul Hembery (Pirelli), recently told this website that an announcement was imminent, who'd have thought that it would be so quick.

The new car will once again sport the now familiar black and yellow Pirelli livery. It will be driven by someone not connected to any team, thus not giving any team an advantage.

Pirelli are due to run the R30 for the first time in May. They are planning four or five tests during the 2012 season.

For this weekends Australian GP, Pirelli will use the P Zero white medium and and the P Zero yellow soft compounds. The difference between the two compounds is expected to be around six tenths of a second.
