McLaren Mercedes MP4-27 Launched

Just a short time ago the new McLaren challenger for 2012 was revealed. You can see a picture above.

The first thing that struck me, and perhaps most people was that the nose was pretty much standard. In fact Jenson Button himself commented that the car looks good, unlike others we will see this year. There is an assumption that most cars on the grid will get around the nose regulations by being similar to the Caterham, unveiled last week. I tend to agree that the car does look good, in fact it's a relief that all the cars won't have this new style nose. How long will this last? that's the only question. Remember last pre season when McLaren in particular, had a poor testing period, they had to make changes and very quickly. It remains to be seen who is right with te new regulation.

The new car looks sleek and well packaged. I am more than happy with my prediction of a McLaren championship win in 2012, especially after seeing the car. Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton looked pleased and confident in the new car, this is a far cry from a year ago.

Gone are the L shaped side pods, the exhaust exit looks interesting and again well packaged. But, perhaps more importantly the mirrors are improved. Well, that seemed important to Lewis, with a little snigger.

Good luck to McLaren, the car looks good, the drivers look confident, I think you may just have given birth to a winner.
